NEED A GENERATION OF SUPERHEROES

1Peter 2:9-12
9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

What is a Superhero?
An individual with superhuman powers, distinguished courage, admired bravery/boldness and noble qualities, in the opinion of others is regarded as a model or ideal, great authority, wears a distinctive costume and fights against evil for the greater good!

As Christians (disciples of Christ) we are called & commissioned to be superheros. The current youth generation needs to get off their butts, stop making excuses, & rise up! The time is now to wake up, answer the call, & full fill their destiny: To be His "Superheroes!"

Time to:
  • put on the Armour as instructed (Ephesians 6)
  • walk humble, in His grace, submitting to God, and then resist the devil! (James 4:6-7)
  • abide in the Lord where all strength comes from (John 15:1-11, Hebrews 4:15-16, James 4:8a)
  • wave the banner for the Lord unashamedly & declare His love (the Gospel) (Romans 1:16)
  • operate in the real power/authority, given to all who'd receive, through the Holy Spirit (John 14:15-31, Acts 1:7-8, Acts 2:1-11, Romans 8:26, Ephesians 5:18)
  • be in the world and not of it (Romans 12:2, 1 John 2:15-17)
  • discern or recognize the plan (Ephesians 5:10, Philippians 1:9, Hebrews 5:14)
  • put action to faith "Walk the Walk not just Talk the Talk" (Romans 2:13, Philippians 2:12, James 1:22 & 2:17)
  • stand against unrighteousness and injustice (Romans 6:13)
  • walk in and promote freedom (John 8:32, Colossians 1:13-14 & Ephesians 1:7)
  • submit to the authorities placed over us.....cause all authorities are appointed by God (Romans 13:1-2)
  • fight battles on their knees (Prayer is essential) (1 Timothy 2:1-3, Ephesians 6:18-20, Philippians 4:6, Luke 11:9-10)
  • grow in wisdom & knowledge of the Word (Romans 10:17, Hebrews 4:12)
  • believe what the Word says....have GREAT faith (Ephesians 2:10, 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, 1Corinthians 1:30)
  • reflect the light of the master....Jesus Christ (only obtained by spending time in his presence) (Matthew 5:15-16)
